Teaching Every Child to Read with Read Write Inc.
Reading and writing are hugely important skills for every child. Reading allows us to embrace and enjoy our educations – and lives – more fully. It also holds the key to enabling disadvantaged children to overcome barriers and reach their potential.
That’s why we chose to partner with Read Write Inc., a high-impact phonics programme that transforms reading and writing for every child.
All our teachers have been fully trained to deliver the Read Write Inc. phonics scheme across the Trust, to ensure no child is left behind. As part of the Read Write Inc. programme, our teachers also scrutinise literacy data from each pupil, and carry out consistent assessments.
A big part of the Read Write Inc. programme’s success is in its delivery. Our teachers support our pupils in regular-sized classes, but also provide daily tutoring to individual pupils who are making slower progress with the programme.
Since fully implementing the Read Write Inc. programme across our Trust, our schools have seen a clear, positive impact on our learners’ literacy levels. At The Trinity Catholic Academy, for instance, phonics screening levels soared from 55–60% to 82% (above the national average) since joining the Trust.
