St Joseph Multi Academy Trust marks Educate Awards shortlist success

St Joseph Multi Academy Trust (SJCMAT) is celebrating after two of its academies, one member of staff and the Trust itself were revealed as finalists in this year’s prestigious Educate Awards.

St Cuthbert’s Catholic Academy has been shortlisted for the Careers & Enterprise Award, which recognises schools that are successfully preparing young people for future careers and encouraging enterprise through a range of unique opportunities.

Mr Stuart Holland, headteacher of St Cuthbert’s, said: “We are thrilled to have been shortlisted for this award.  Our commitment to supporting our students with their next steps, helping them prepare for their futures and providing opportunities for every young person to live life in all its fullness continues to grow stronger.

St Francis Xavier’s Catholic Academy has been shortlisted in the Outstanding Commitment to STEM category, which champions schools that engage students in science, technology, engineering and mathematics and inspire the next generation.

Headteacher, Mr David Hayes, commented: “We are delighted to be shortlisted for the Outstanding Commitment to STEM award. We are passionate about giving our students opportunities to explore STEM in different ways and helping them understand where these subjects can take them. Our staff do a brilliant job of bringing this to life and encouraging students to get involved, ask questions and try new things.”

At Notre Dame Catholic Academy, Miss Lynsey Disley has been nominated for School Support Star of the Year. The award recognises the vital contribution made by support staff who go above and beyond to make a difference to students, colleagues and their wider school communities.

Learning support assistant, Miss Disley, was truly honoured to find out she had made the shortlist. She shared: “I was genuinely surprised and honoured to be nominated, and it was a wonderful recognition. It has been especially meaningful to know that the impact of my work has been noticed.”

Finally, SJCMAT has been shortlisted for Most Inspirational Multi Academy Trust. This category recognises the impact and contribution of multi academy trusts across the education sector.

Mr Andrew Truby, CEO of the Trust, said: “We are incredibly proud to see St Joseph Multi Academy Trust shortlisted for Most Inspirational Multi Academy Trust. It is a wonderful opportunity to reflect on the collective work of our academies, our staff and our wider school communities, and the difference we strive to make for children and young people every day.

“To be recognised alongside so many inspirational organisations across the region is a real honour, and we look forward to celebrating with our colleagues at the Educate Awards.”

The winners will be announced at the Educate Awards ceremony on Friday 13 November, taking place at the Liverpool Anglican Cathedral.
